The Department’s field of activity focuses on the study of the dynamics and structure of scientific information flows and data sets.
The Scientometrics Department, which was established as a structural unit of the Department for the Organization and Management of Scientific Activity of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), was created by Order No. 828/3/2018 of the UNEC Rector. As of 10 September 2025, the Scientometrics Department was withdrawn from the Department for the Organization and Management of Scientific Activity and has since
operated as an independent structural unit. The main objectives of the Department include increasing, systematizing, and monitoring the publication activity and citation indicators of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and its representatives, providing support in this area, and stimulating publication opportunities in scientific outlets indexed in international databases.
DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitoring the quantitative and qualitative indicators of citations to the University (UNEC) in reputable scientific databases;
• Preparing analytical and informational materials aimed at improving the level of scientific research conducted at the University and enhancing the research activity of the academic staff;
• Expanding scientific cooperation with internationally recognized scientific databases, ensuring the application of modern scientific and technical innovations at the University, and establishing cooperation with editorial boards of journals indexed in international databases;

• Creating and developing an information database of scientific publications by the University’s academic and research staff;
• Organizing scientific conferences whose proceedings are indexed in international databases;
• Facilitating the participation of UNEC representatives in training programs organized by international scientific organizations;
• Preparing annual publication dynamics reports of UNEC representatives indexed in international databases.
